We believe that having a baby is the most exciting thing you will ever do

We are here to get you started by giving you support, information and connecting you with experts to make sure you get gut healthy and give your baby the best possible health for life.

The future of your health starts in the gut. Emerging evidence reveals that the gut plays a crucial role in many common and serious health conditions. There is an inextricable link between the diversity and balance of our gut bacteria and our susceptibility to disease.

We kickstarted our fundraising for the MothersBabies Microbiome Research study by celebrating the Winter Solstice with a Yuletide party at the State Library of NSW.

AN INTRODUCTION TO MOTHERSBABIES

MothersBabies empowers mothers-to-be to transform their health and the health of their child through education and knowledge solutions that improve gut health.

KATHY LETTE SPEAKS WITH MOTHERSBABIES CEO, CATHERINE OATES SMITH

Empowering Mothers-to-be, Kathy Lette speaks with MothersBabies CEO, Catherine Oates Smith. This short but insightful chat helps you understand the events that compelled Catherine to start MothersBabies, the amazing scientific frontier that is the microbiome and how the greatest gift a woman can give her child is an immune system that fights disease.

GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FOR THE MOTHERSBABIES STUDY

Professor Emad El Omar announces government support for The MothersBabies study in 2018.

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE ‘P’ WORD.

There are trillions of bugs (helpful microbes like good bacteria) inside us that convert what we eat. Your poo provides an insight into what is happening inside you and provides clues on how to improve your health. It’s called your microbiome. You’re going to be hearing that word a lot from now on because gut health will be one of the most important issues facing us this century.

AN APPLE A DAY

Gut health is the new frontier of preventative medicine. An “apple a day” may well keep the doctor away, but only if that is proven to be the case through research studies and clinical trials. The MothersBabies study will help women for pre-pregnancy onwards bring healthier babies into the world.

2,000 MUMS AND 2,000 BABIES

2,000 mothers and their babies providing poo samples that will help Science understand the microbiome and how to improve the health of mothers and their babies! As Professor Emad El-Omar says, “We owe it to humanity to do this study.”

WHAT IS A CRAPSULE?

Building better babies one gut at a time! Your genetics is only part of the picture. Diet, poo transplants, super-donors, crapsules (yes, that’s an official term), microbiome, and gut health.
