We say it time and time again here at MothersBabies: Knowledge is power.

There are so many decisions to be made as you begin to consider the prospect of having a baby, and the more you know about the impact that your decisions have, the more empowered you are.

C-sections are life-saving and crucial for many mothers and babies, and we are so lucky to live in a time where they are possible! For some, there is no choice, for others, a C-section is the best choice.

Either way, gaining an understanding of the potential impact that a C-section may have on the gut health of your baby is a power move, because this information will continue to guide you to make the best choices for you and your baby long after their birth and into their childhood.

In this newsletter, you can:

Read an article, written by nutritionist Clare Carrick, about the differences in the gut microbiome of vaginally-born babies compared to C-section babies;

Read a research summary, written by Dr Fathalla Ali, on the persistent effects of birth mode on the gut microbiome, immune system, and antimicrobial resistance;

Watch a video from Obstetrician Dr Dani Susic, where she explains the concept of Vaginal Seeding and how it can be beneficial to babies born via C-section.
